哲学家和船家 一个哲学家与一个船家

The philosopher nearly fell into the water when he tried to jump into the boat.The boatman caught his arm and helped him to get in.

The philosopher thought the boatman must be very ignorant.

哲学家在试着往船上跳的时候,险些落到水里。船家抓住了他的胳臂帮他上了船。

哲学家认为这个船家肯定是没有什么学问的人。

One day a philosopher came to a very broad river.He wanted to cross it.Not far away was a boatman.

“Hey,boatman,”called the philosopher,“Can you take me across the river?”

“Certainly,Sir.Jump in.”said the boatman.

一天,一位哲学家来到一条很宽的河的岸边,他想过河,不远处有一个船家。

“喂,船家,”哲学家喊道,“你能送我过河吗?”

“你又浪费掉了你生命的四分之一。”

The wind blew harder,and the waves rose higher.Now it was the old boatman’s turn to ask questions.

“All these things may be very important but now answer my question,”he said,“Did you ever learn to swim?”

风越吹越大,浪也越掀越高。现在该轮到老船家提问题了。

“你说的所有这些事情可能都很重要,但现在你回答我一个问题,”他说,“你学过游泳吗?”

The boatman continued to row across the river,but now and then he looked up at the black clouds in the sky.“I don’t think you know anything about philosophy!”said the philosopher.

船家继续划船。但他不时地抬头看看天上的乌云。“我认为你对哲学也是一无所知。”哲学家说。

“你算说对了,我确实不知道什么。”船家回答道。

“真可惜了,这样你又浪费掉了生命的四分之一。我将会给你证明这一点。”

Just then the waves dashed over the boat and both the clever man and the boatman found themselves in the river.The boat sank.The boatman swam to the shore.As for the philosopher,nobody knows what happened to him.

正在这个时候巨浪向小船猛烈地砸过来,那个聪明的哲学家和船家都掉进了河里,小船沉没了。船家游上了岸,至于那个哲学家,就没人知道他的下落了。

“要是那样的话,你要失去你的全部生命。”老船家回答说。
