Lesson 35 A Sense of Security

Some people take the view that sometimes in life we have to take chances in order to make progress.I admire such people.It certainly takes courage to take risks.Maybe it's due to my upbringing,but I am the type who likes to play it safe.

People like me believe in the saying,"A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." Conservative? as it may be,it keeps me out of trouble.I must confess,however,that such a lifestyle may,at times,be boring.Admmittedly,my life is not half as colorful or exciting as other people's,but at least it gives me sense of security.

1.It centainly takes courage to take rishks. 冒险的确需要勇气

It takes + 表条件的名词 + to + 动词原形

2.Conservative as it may be.it keeps me out of troble.

=Conservative though it may be,it keeps me out of troble.

= Though it may be conservative,it keeps me out of trouble.

Though 可以被as 代替

a. Though + 主语 + be动词/连系动词(seem appear look...)+ 形容词 主句

= 形容词 + though + 主语 + be动词/连系动词，主句

= 形容词 + as + 主语 + be动词/连系动词，主句

Though he is rich,he is very stingy.

= Rich though he is ,he is very stingy.

= Rich as he is,he is very stingy.

b. Though + 主语 + 动词 + 副词 ,主句

= 副词 + though + 主语 + 动词,主句

= 副词 + as + 主语 + 动词，主句

Though he ran fast,he didn't win the race.

= Fast though he ran,he didn't win the race.

=Fast as he ran,he didn't win the race.
